Below Ice was a Music Band established in 2014 by a group of Grade 12 and 11 boys. The band was selected to participate as one of ten bands in the final round of the St Mary's Battle of the Bands competition. Finalists were chosen out of a record number of almost 50 bands from all over Gauteng that auditioned for the competition. They had to present two songs, one of which had to be their own original composition. Belwo Ice were crowned overall winners and walked away with prizes in excess of R40 000, amongst them studio time to record a fully-produced EP album and a sound desk worth R20 000 for the Music Department.
