Administrative history
St Stithians College was founded in 1953 and consisted at the time of the founding BP and BC classes. In 1995, with the advent of the girls' schools on campus, the entities serving the boys became known as the Boys' College and Boys' Preparatory schools. Reference to the Boys' Prep within AtoM indicates the Preparatory school years from Grade 1 to Grade 7 for its history from 1953 to 1996 and Grade 3 to Grade 7 from 1996 onwards.

Archival history
Albums put together at various times over the life of the BP up until 1982. The albums were largely the work of former BP Headmaster, Walter Macfarlane.
Immediate source of acquisition or transfer
These albums were stored in the BC Library storeroom for many years and were moved into the Archives c.2011.

Scope and content
The albums contain assorted photographs, newspaper cuttings, invitations to formal events and programmes of school productions as well as occasional photographs of sports teams and dramatic productions. For detailed contents see individual albums.
Some albums also contain newspaper articles (NCs) pertaining to the Boys' College as well as the Boys' Prep. However, as the majority of the album contents pertain to the BP, all items are included in this BP collection, with reference made to BC items where relevant.

The physical albums are, as far as possible, arranged within their box in date order. Items within each album generally, but not exclusively follow a rough date order.
