The original wooden desks (pictured) were later replaced with hexagonal pairs of desks. The doorway at the top of the stairs led to a room originally used for audio-visual work with classes. This room was converted in turn to an IT office, a staff workroom, a server room, a film-editing room and most recently (2012) to an office for the Digital Learning Coach.

The computer with the monitor on top of it was installed to make the earliest educational CDRom resources available to students. The other two monitors gave students access to the first ILIS online library catalogue. The return slot in the desk led to a book return box which was custom built by former Maths teacher, Don Jones.
